Terra D’Oro Chenin Blanc Viognier White Blend
The grapes for this wine come primarily from our Clarksburg vineyards, with a small amount coming from select Amador vineyards. The Clarksburg AVA, located 30 miles west of Amador, is perfectly suited for growing aromatic white grape varieties. It enjoys cooler temperatures than surrounding regions thanks to the cool breezes that flow in from San Francisco Bay. This allows the grapes to ripen slowly and develop depth in both flavors and aromas.
This wine was fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, helping to capture the fresh varietal flavors and bright acidity. To retain the vibrant fruit and acidity, the grapes were harvested at night and fermented and aged in stainless steel. The wine remained on the lees for two months after fermentation to add complexity.
Terra d’Oro Chenin Blanc & Viognier blend is lively, refreshing and well balanced. Inviting aromas of honeydew melon, grapefruit, nectarine, orange blossom and tangerine lead into flavors of peach and mango, followed on the midpalate by hints of lemon curd, quince and nectarine. Acid drives into a crisp, mineral finish. This blend pairs beautifully with oysters on the half shell, pork, chicken and southeast Asian fare.
