Description
Louis Martini Prati Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon
Louis M. Martini’s decision to settle in Napa Valley was driven by a desire to craft exceptional wines by sourcing the best fruit possible. In the years that followed Prohibition, he established a legacy of craftsmanship and a passion for Napa Valley that continues to this day. Their history reflects the vision, ingenuity and endurance of a family committed to making the best Cabernet Sauvignon possible.
When he first settled in Napa Valley, Louis M. Martini sought to source from the most coveted vineyards in the region. With the 1938 purchase of the Goldstein Ranch in the Mayacamas Mountains, he embarked on a new chapter in advanced viticulture and vineyard-driven winemaking. The vineyard, renamed Monte Rosso for its red volcanic soils, has since become the emblematic source of some of our most sought-after releases. Today, they continue to source the best grapes possible from Napa Valley and beyond.
Introducing Prati by Louis M. Martini, Sonoma County’s premier Cabernet Sauvignon.
Martini’s 90 years of winemaking heritage combined with the wine’s extraordinary quality and character, Prati features outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon from premier vineyards in Sonoma County. Smooth, bold, yet approachable, Prati is a balanced expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. In the evening, fog rolls in from the Pacific, cooling the vineyards before burning off mid-morning, giving way to abundant sunshine. This maritime influence extends the growing season, allowing for slow and even ripening. These optimal conditions make Prati an accessible Cabernet displaying layers of blackberry jam and black cherry complimented by toasted vanilla. The region is cooler than Napa Valley, contributing to Prati’s vibrant acidity and elegant sophistication, making it an excellent companion to food or enjoyed on its own.
Winemaking Notes
The grapes were brought into the winery and gently destemmed. To extract maximum color and flavor from the grapes, pumpovers were performed three times a day and the wines were on skins for 8-10 days. The wine was then transferred to a combination of French and American oak for a period of 18 months.
Louis Martini Prati Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant expression of Dry Creek and Alexander Valley. The lively nose boasts aromas of blackberry, plum, and black cherry with hints of vanilla. Layers of blackberry jam, black cherry and toasted vanilla on the palate are complimented by soft notes of cedar. Beautifully balanced, this wine offers an acidic structure that holds up nicely to the abundant fruit.
