Description
Browne Family Vineyards Skull & Chain Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage
2018 represents a very long harvest and a record-breaker for volume and tons crushed. There were no rains at bloom, so the grapes had less mildew pressure than last year. Two weeks of extremely hot weather towards the end of summer allowed for fruit to hang a little longer too.
Vineyards
A sub of the Yakima Valley AVA, Red Mountain. Named after the red grass present, the is the warmest AVA in Washington. Red Mountain is also known for its diversity of vineyards and uniqueness of its terroir.
Tasting Notes
Browne Family Vineyards Skull & Chain Cabernet Sauvignon spends 22 months aging in 44% new French oak barrels. Aromas of black cherry and cedar lead to dusty and earthy flavors. Flavors of falling of the vine blackberry with dark chocolate at the front and earthy, chewy tannins on the finish. This is a big wine with lots of structure but approachable now.
