Description
Avivo Red Blend
It all started with a simple yet powerful idea that took root: craft exquisite, affordable wines from grape varieties that flourish in our warm Mediterranean climate. We envisioned a future where wine production not only minimized carbon emissions but actively helped capture them, making our wines a force for positive change.
But we didn’t stop there. Our commitment to transparency and sustainability led us to create wines free from mysterious additives, ensuring you can savor each glass knowing that every sip supports a healthier planet and a happier you.
At AVIVO, we understand that the future of winemaking is deeply intertwined with the preservation and enhancement of our environment, as well as the well-being of our people and communities. That’s why we’re committed to regenerative farming practices that focus on sustainability, biodiversity, and the reduction of our carbon footprint.
At the core of regenerative farming is the pursuit of becoming carbon sequestrative. Carbon sequestration refers to the process by which carbon dioxide is captured from the atmosphere and stored in the soil or plants, thus mitigating the greenhouse effect. On the other hand, carbon emissions contribute to global warming and climate change. Regenerative farming practices help us minimize our carbon emissions while maximizing the sequestration potential of our vineyards.
“Witnessing the urgent need to address climate change, I realized that combining my 30+ years of farming experience with regenerative viticulture could create a positive impact on the world, while producing amazing wines at the same time. I created AVIVO with a vision to transform how we farm grapes in California, and hopefully inspire others to join this movement.” – Ridgely Evers, Founder and CEO
Vintage
2021 will be remembered as an outstanding vintage. The growing season suffered almost no frosts in March and April; the days during flowering were mild and windless, and there were no intense heat spikes during ripening. Cluster weights and berry sizes were understandably down due to the ongoing drought, but this led to concentrated flavors and color in the wines. While growers and wineries suffered from smaller than usual yields, this vintage promises to be one of tremendous quality for wine consumers.
Vineyards
Sourced from Ledbetter Family Vineyards in Lodi, CA, the Sangiovese and Syrah are planted on the bench in rocky, well drained soils. The vineyards are farmed regeneratively (Certified Regenerative, and in-transition to Demeter Certified Biodynamic) without the use of glyphosates (RoundUp) or other pre- and post emergents. In fact, AVIVO is one of just three American wine brands certified to be glyphosate-free.

Brilliant ruby red in the glass, the nose opens with notes of crushed cherries, dried thyme and coriander, and charcuterie. The palate is nicely balanced with chalky tannin and bright acidity. Flavors of pomegranate seeds, red berries, rhubarb and peppercorn meld together in a long, fresh finish.
