Description
Korbel Brut Rosé Champagne
KORBEL has been made the méthode champenoise way since 1882. In that time-honored process, champagne is fermented inside the same bottle from which it is served. The taste of the méthode champenoise style is famous for its delicate nuances and for producing the countless dazzling bubbles in every glass of KORBEL California champagne.
Korbel Brut Rosé California Champagne is blended to showcase the brightness of the fruit we grow in California’s best wine regions. Each of the four varieties used in this cuvée makes its own unique contribution to the blend. Pinot Noir brings a black cherry and strawberry element to the blend while Sangiovese adds structure and a red cherry flavor. The Gamay portion has a soft raspberry aroma. Chenin Blanc is a white variety that keeps the blend delicate and adds a faint melon character.
We use Pinot Noir, Sangiovese and Gamay lots that have a noticeable pink hue for our Brut Rosé, looking for lots that have generous strawberry and black cherry-like flavors. The goal is to consistently produce a Rosé that is flavorful, bright and aromatic.
One interesting aspect of making a Rosé using the classic Méthode Champenoise process is the color balance. The yeast used in the bottle fermentation process removes some of the color from the champagne, and the amount of color loss is unpredictable. To correct for this, we use a small amount of young red wine in the sweetening dosage to add a note of complexity and adjust the color back to a nice pink hue.
KORBEL Brut Rosé is delicate and crisp, featuring bright flavors of strawberry, cherry and melon. Its medium-dry, slightly sweet style makes it one of the most versatile, food-friendly varietals. This wine is very versatile and pairs well with a wide range of foods. Try it with grilled shrimp, seafood, sausage, pork or chicken. Its slight sweetness also works well with flavorful barbecues and tomato sauces, and is a great accompaniment to pizza.
