Description
Born in 1896, this huge and ornery black gelding would become known as the horse that couldn’t be ridden. As a colt, he sustained a broken bone in his nose that caused him to make an odd whistling sound when he bucked, earning him the name “Steamboat.”
Tale of his trademark move of planting his front feet straight into the ground while throwing his back legs in the air struck fear into brone riders and battered folk heroes of the very few who somehow managed to hang on.
Steamboat’s image and legend lives forever in Wyoming’s iconic logo, rodeo history and this special edition bourbon whiskey.
