Description
1792 Full Proof Single Barrel Bourbon
Founded in 1879 in Bardstown, Kentucky, the Barton 1792 Distillery is the oldest fully operating distillery in the bourbon capital of the world. Originally known as the Tom Moore Distillery, it has long drawn its limestone-filtered water from the nearby Tom Moore Spring, an essential element in crafting rich, flavorful bourbon. Now owned by the Sazerac Company, the distillery sits on nearly 200 acres and produces a range of high-rye bourbons aged in new charred oak barrels. The name “1792” honors the year Kentucky became the fifteenth state in the Union, a fitting tribute to the spirit’s deep ties to the state’s heritage and craftsmanship.
Bourbon insiders have long acknowledged that full proof bourbon has a distinguished and rich flavor. This bourbon underwent a distinct filtering process, forgoing the typical chill filtration and passing only through a plate and frame filter. This allowed the bourbon to maintain a robust proof for bottling, as well as a full, rich and bold flavor. Bottled at its original 125 barrel entry proof, just as it was years ago when the barrels were first filled, 1792 Full Proof Bourbon is exceptionally distinct.
Tasting Notes:
Honey amber in color, this whiskey opens with aromas of toasted oak, honey, caramel, and allspice, accompanied by the presence of high proof on the nose that remains balanced and non-offensive. As the glass rests, the alcohol softens, allowing the sweeter notes to emerge more fully. On the palate, rich caramel flavors appear up front, followed closely by oak, cinnamon and hints of citrus. Despite its 125° proof, it drinks remarkably smooth, offering warmth without harshness. The finish is long and lingering, leaving behind a gentle trace of sweetness that invites another sip.
