Kings County Elma Wine & Liquor Select Distillery Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Kings County Distillery is New York City’s premier craft distillery and among the most acclaimed small distilleries in the United States. Focused exclusively on whiskeys, Kings County has made a name for its Bourbon, Peated Bourbon, Empire Rye and other creative whiskeys. We only distill whiskey for our label and we never sell whiskey made from any other source.

Kings County blends distilling practices from a variety of cultures into creative whiskeys that remain traditional while defying convention, using Scottish copper pot stills, open fermentation, and local grains to make American whiskeys that expand the category.

In May of 2024, we flew to the Kings County distillery to hand select a barrel of bourbon. We were given 8 samples, 4 of which were 4 year old bourbon and 4 barrels that were 6 years old. They had us taste them all blind, without even letting us know the proof. After discussing the complex flavor notes and smoothness of the bourbon, we decided to go with barrel no.5624K. This 53 gallon barrel of bourbon was aged for 6 years and 119 days and bottled at an impressive 128.8°.

Our single barrel select features a deep amber color. aromas of cherry spice, pepper, charred oak, cocoa and brown sugar. The palate encompasses all of the notes on the nose, with an emphasis on smooth and intense notes of baking spices, caramel, cocoa, brown sugar and baking spices. The finish is long and lingers. For a bourbon of this proof, you will be shocked at how smooth it drinks.
