Description
Gravel Bar Cabernet Sauvignon
Established in 1985, Gravel Bar Winery set out to deliver exceptional Washington wines. Our mission was simple; craft quality wines to be enjoyed by consumers seeking unique appellations and rich flavors. And to do that, we knew we needed to be situated in the heart of Columbia Valley and its extraordinary American Viticultural Areas (AVAs), ensuring Gravel Bar wines are impressive both in style and flavor. Balanced, modern, and textured, our wines showcase The Essence of Washington.
For more than twenty centuries, torrential floodwaters from melting ice-age glaciers sculpted eastern Washington’s Columbia Valley, leaving in their wake deep deposits of sandy, rocky, alluvial soils. Today, framing the Columbia River, broad plains of ancient sediment constitutes one of the world’s finest wine grape growing regions
Columbia Valley
Known for its many and varied microclimates (cool, warm, windy, hilly, flat), Columbia Valley is the umbrella AVA under which many of the state’s sub-AVAs fall. While it contains 99% of wine grapes grown in Washington State, 6,851 of its acres are unique to the Columbia Valley and don’t overlap another sub-AVA in the state.
Tasting Notes
Gravel Bar Cabernet Sauvignon is ripe with dark berries on the nose, with dried savory herb, and hints of vanilla. Very expressive on the palate, with a long fruit driven finish and ample round tannins. A perfect accompaniment with steak, lamb, or aged cheeses.
