Description
Abbesse Sauvignon Blanc
The Bougrier has made fine Sauvignon Blanc in the Loire Valley (the grape’s spiritual home) since 1885. Today, seasoned winemaker Noël Bougrier carries on his family’s proud tradition with his ever-popular Abbesse range.
In a region known for world-class whites like Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, Abbesse stands out, thanks to its great quality and value. This latest release celebrates the timeless verve and originality of Louise de Bourbon. Noble woman, nun and norm-breaker extraordinaire, Louise famously secured a rare papal dispensation to renovate her ancient abbey, branding her handiwork with a winged ‘L’—as shown on the wine’s label.
This refreshingly energetic and intriguingly complex Sauvignon Blanc is a fitting tribute. Look for leap-from-the-glass aromas of grassy citrus, plus a lovely, ripe peachiness on the palate and a zesty lime finish. It’s a go-to aperitif and equally tasty served with its traditional (and delicious) companion, goat cheese.
