Description
Cline Chardonnay North Coast
Our Cline Classic wines showcase the best that California terroir has to offer.
The grapes for this chardonnay came from four family-owned vineyards in Mendocino County. Middle Ridge Ranch, just across the river from Hopland in Southeast Mendocino, experiences cool evenings and hot days which preserves acidity and produces fruit-forward Chardonnay. Thornhill and Ruddick Ranches a little furtheßr North and East of Ukiah experiences a touch more heat providing roundness and ripe stone fruits. And a vineyard in Potter Valley creates a linear and crisp Chardonnay due to the nighttime and daytime temperature swings which can be up to 40-45 degrees. Together, these vineyards build on one another to create a complete, balanced and rich Chardonnay.
Grapes were hand-harvested before dawn. Each lot 100% destemmed to help extract the solids from the wine. It was pressed, then cold settled for 24 hours before racking and inoculating for fermentation. Fermentation is maintained at 55F to preserve fruit freshness and acidity. Once complete, it is inoculated for malolactic fermentation, adding richness and body. The wine is aged in 30% new French oak for 8 months.
A delicious wine fermented in a mixture of oak and stainless with just the right amount of secondary fermentation, it’s an amazing Chardonnay with lots of stone fruits and melon adding wonderful accents of fresh-baked bread.
