Description
Westland American Single Malt Whiskey
Westland’s signature American Single Malt Whiskey is a culmination of over 10 years pioneering a new category of whiskey that has put America on the global single malt map. This latest expression represents the possibilities to be explored in single malt and captures the essence of our house style in one flagship bottle.
Tasting Notes
Westland American Single Malt Whiskey features an amber opens with aromas of sweet custard, berry compote, maple brittle, toasted marshmallow. The palate features flavors of almond nougat, crème brûlée, black tea, white flower petals, malted milk balls. The finish is long and lingering.
Cask Types:
Cooper’s Reserve New American Oak
Our use of virgin oak is typical of American whiskey making but practically unheard of in the Old World and leaves an undeniable mark on the final flavor.
Sherry Wine Casks
While certainly not the defining characteristics of our flagship expression, a touch of rich sherry-matured whiskey helps to create a round and luscious mouthfeel.
Grain Bill
Westland American Single Malt Whiskey uses a proprietary blend of 6 different malt grains. They start with Bairds Heavily Peated Malt, which adds a subtle smoke taste to the final product. They also use 5 other types of malted barley; Washington Select Pale Malt, Munich Malt, Extra Special Malt, Pale Chocolate Malt and Brown Malt. Our signature mash bill featuring kilned and roasted malts showcases the wide spectrum of flavors that malted barley can bring to whiskey.
